To say that this client has had an extraordinary career is an understatement.

The Honourable Mary Lou Benotto spent 28 years on the bench, first as a Judge of the Superior Court of Ontario and later as a Justice of the Ontario Court of Appeal. She has heard and authored judgments in thousands of cases across civil, commercial, criminal, and family law. She developed and instituted dispute resolution systems in Ontario’s civil and family courts.

Retirement didn’t mark the end of her career. It opened up the freedom to decide how she wanted to spend her time and which opportunities were worth pursuing. After spending decades within a clearly defined professional role, there was now room to explore what else she might bring to the world beyond the institution she had been part of.

That kind of freedom can be exciting, but it can also come with uncertainty. When a professional identity has been so closely tied to a role, stepping outside it means having to reconsider how you want to be seen—and perhaps even how you see yourself.

Our work was to create a personal website and visual identity that reflected the significance of her career while remaining open to new possibilities.

What attracted Ms. Benotto to work with us was our design aesthetic: clear structures, clean lines, and a sense of restraint. We brought a similar approach to her website, adapting it into something more understated and senior in character.
