Website Pre-Launch
Your website is ready to go live. It’s time to think about what comes after launch.
Launch is the beginning, not the finish line.
A little story about how a bird in New Zealand led to you reading this page.
Pūkeko - professional ground-foragers that will dig up anything loose enough to move.
For a long time, I consider my responsibility ends when the client receives a website they’re happy with. Squarespace markets itself as needing no ongoing maintenance, and I didn't want to make clients pay for services they don’t truly need.
That changed when I participated in a restoration project that involved tree planting in Auckland.
When our group finished planting, we left assuming nature would take care of what’s next. Out of curiosity, I came back a couple of weeks later. I found the site did not look as when we left. Various plants were tilted over, some with roots exposed.
The culprit turned out to be the pūkeko who pull these newly planted seedlings to find food.
As I replanted these deeper into the ground, I had two realizations:
Just because something is “technically still alive” doesn’t mean it has been given the chances to grow into what it could be.
Anything that we’ve invested resources and effort in deserved to be cared for, especially in the early stage when it begins exposure to the real world.
When I review websites that were self-managed, most have become messy, bloated, or look the same but the information have become outdated. So I changed how we work.
Launch becomes a milestone, not an end of our responsibilities for what we have helped building.

A second look, together
We’ll look at the feedback you’ve gotten and also your own perspective on where the website might need improvement.
