About Taylor Web Design

We work with small business owners - those who are in it for passion, not just paycheque. The quiet ones who work hard when nobody is watching.

Hey, happy to meet you!

I’m Thanh (Taylor) Nguyen, a Vietnamese/Canadian designer.

I debated whether to write a personal story, or keep the bio “cool and profesz”. In the end, I decided to share my personal story of how I become a web designer, because it explains why/how craftsmanship and client relationships are so important for me.

If I bore you at any point, feel free to skips reading and book an intro call instead where we can discuss how to make your brand better. I care about your future more than my past :)

Here’s my story:

Growing up, my parents have always warned me against creative endeavors. They said most artists are poor and crazy, except a few highly gifted. Because of this mindset, I was deeply afraid of seeing/allowing my creativity.

I studied business and worked in left-brain fields: marketing, business analysis, and user experience research. However, there was something within that kept calling me towards being a creative designer — a strong desire to know what’s on the other side of my fear.

I began learning web design. Every month, I analyzed 40-50 websites to create my own designs. This rigorous process slowly builded a bridge from my analytical brain to the creative side.

During the first few years, my work wasn’t great. I frequently thought about giving up. But every time I left, a discovery or unexpected opportunity would come up, as though fate was calling me back to the path of becoming a creative designer. Eventually, my work quality improved to the point where I could make a living.

Though it’s been so many years, designing still fills me with an immense sense of happiness as the first time. Whenever I finish a project, I can’t help dancing around the room and even shed tears sometimes.

The emotions come from love for the design work itself combine with my deep gratitude for all the clients who have trusted me with their brand vision.

I’m grateful for every opportunity that has allowed me to continue being a designer. No matter how the business grow, my brand commitment is to treat every client as if they were my first, last, and only client.
